Santosh Narayanan joined FOOD in 1995 to concentrate on the organisation's activities involving the use of ICTs. In addition to specialising in ICTs he possesses multidisciplinary exposure in social development projects such as community-owned enterprise development, micro-credits, water and sanitation, etc. His responsibilities include project formulation, preparation of operation manuals, management of in-house specialists and external sub-contractors/consultants, project documentation and monitoring & evaluation of international inter-disciplinary projects.

He has been instrumental in promoting open source software and electronic networking among NGOs. Projects managed by him have won international awards like ERICA 1999 and GK-II Best Practice. Projects implemented by him continue to be self-supportive sustainable programs even after outside funding is completed.

He brings demonstrated skills and experience in project management coupled with personable and interaction with all team members. His strong writing skills enhance proposal development and project documentation.

He has regional field experience in Asia. His services have been utilized by IDRC Canada and LIONS International for a turnkey assignment on Internet-based community oriented blood donor database electronic network in Sri Lanka. He has participated in Pan Asia Networking’s E-commerce Workshop held in Singapore to share his experiences on E-commerce as a tool for non-profits as well as on the issues involved in implementing online shops. He has been contracted by UNDP/APDIP for a needs assessment mission to Andhra Pradesh for establishing “Samachar Kendras” / Information Centres.
